Quake Map - Iron Sanctum - Insight
A Level Blockout made in Unreal Engine for the final test of the School 4 Games. The map Iron Sanctum combines industrial with sacrilegious tones. The main focus of the level is to explore and find switches to make the exit of the level reachable.

Overview
I created this blockout during my studies at the School 4 games.
Exploration, a puzzle and skill based skips were the main features I wanted to include in the level. At the beginning I researched classic shooters as well as boomer shooters. Then I created a concept in draw.io and iterated the layout in Unreal.

Exploration
Switches and Secrets are hidden all over the map which rewards currious players.
Puzzle
The pillar puzzle stands at the center of the map. The player must raise these pillars through the switches that are placed in three of the five sections of the map.
Skill based Skips
In the original quake game players could skip certain areas with the exploit of game mechanics like the rocket jump. I incorporated the rocket jump as a mechanic and kept the mechanic in mind when designing the levels even for players that are unaware of this feature.

Role(s) and Responsibilities:
- Game Design: Balanced the Movement Values to accomodate the Gamefeel of Quake.
- Level Design: Research of the genre and the game. Concept of the Puzzle Design and Layout Design. Iteration for a better visual feel and player guidance, Set Dressing
- Visual Scripting: Implementastion of Gravity Cube and Interaction System, Level loading. Camera Smoothing, Sound Settings via Blueprints.
- UI: Implementation of Prompts for the Documentation
- Documentation: all Documents were made within the time frame of this task
